What a hidden gem! A wonderful resource for anyone interested in ceramics. Everyone there is kind and supportive. Pricing is extremely reasonable. It can be tough getting in contact with anyone remotely (calling and texting isn't very fruitful), but they're very receptive to people dropping in with questions. I'm so glad to have found such a wonderful community!

Such a great time, my teen daughters (15,14) have been eager to take a "wheel class", they were surprised how skilled they were their first time. The staff was patient and helpful with lots of great hints to apply texture and depth. Really excited to go back and finish the art.

During my California trip I was in SD area for 2,5 weeks and I took the beginning wheel throwing class and upon learning I wouldn’t be able to take my finished pieces home (I am a newb), I decided to still go ahead and if it resulted in any presentable pieces to gift them to my friends.
The studio and everyone I met there was super friendly and very passionate about ceramics.
They did everything they could to help me so I could still glaze the pieces myself and knowing I wouldn’t be able to collect them myself (having to fly back home), they held them for my friend to collect them later.
From beginning to end they were nothing but friendly, patient and helpful and making sure I had the best introduction to ceramics and a wonderful experience allround, so thank you all so very much!
I highly recommend and if I am ever in the area again I will visit for sure, I miss this place even though I only had two short visits to the studio.

I’ve been having a great time going to this ceramics studio. My instructor Madeleine has been awesome! She’s very patient, knowledgeable, and walks the students through the steps with grace. All of the people who are at the studio have been very friendly and helpful as well. So far I have taken three classes there and love it. It also feels affordable for what I’m able to accomplish. The owner Kathy is super sweet and welcoming as well. Thanks everyone!

Madeline is amazzzzing!!! I have never done pottery before and was excited to try and she did not disappoint in making sure I had an amazing experience. She was such a patient instructor, and shared so much knowledge with me about pottery, different types of clay, techniques, and how to create lasting memories with such a fun activity. Thanks so much for everything! You've helped to create a new lover of pottery. I will definitely be doing this again. Thanks again for everything! I love my new pieces 😁😁🤩

We took a beginning class. The instructor gave clear instructions, was friendly, patient, and kind. We were thrilled to make 3 items that actually looked good and will be useful! We'll go back in a few weeks to learn how to glaze.

Even in the middle of moving to their new location, Cathy was accommodating and made time for me. I look forward to coming back and taking classes. As for now, we will enjoy our new tumblers while celebrating our anniversary.

I went to Fire and Mud to register my youngest daughter, who is special needs (PWS), into classes. She was so excited to begin the lessons and I was told we could immediately sign up and pre-pay for the course online, so I did. Later on, my daughter and I stopped by the center to ask when classes begin (I was not informed of this despite having paid), as my daughter is in charter school and I needed to know the class schedules ahead of time. When I entered the center, an employee who was assisting an older man and woman completely ignored our presence. We waited and waited, standing by. It wasn't until the woman, who was visibly uncomfortable by the employee's negligence, told the employee that she had a customer who needed assistance that the employee had the audacity to tell the old man and woman not to mind us, that we “registered and ask a lot of questions”. She then continued to assist the man and woman and proceeded to ignore us! I felt so embarrassed by this treatment that I left and called the center to tell them we will be withdrawing from the class. I have never been treated with such a lack of respect. I felt discriminated against as an immigrant and as a Muslim and I was disappointed that this treatment kept my daughter from learning a new craft.
