Do not answer phone. Drove there 2 times to get a refund for property tax. Girl was rude n spoke load enough for me to hear her tell.other employees " that's the one I was talking about". Disrespectful and rude. Should be fired. Still not answering phone and I know there are not busy because I drive there and they were doing nothing but apparently talking about me.

On Apr 27, 2022 I went in to pay taxes on a new vehicle I purchased from out of state. I have 5 vehicles registered in Al all in Calhoun Co. I’m a Marine Corps veteran and moved to Al 3 years ago and have lived at the same address for the entire 3 years. When first attempting to register vehicles in the beginning With my DD214 to get a Marine Corps veteran plate I was told my paper work wasn’t valid. I had to come back later when the veterans administration just down the hall was opened which I did. They verified my DD214 as valid typed up a verification letter and notarized it. I went down the hall and they asked someone from the Veterans administration to walk down and help them read it. I was told it’s stamped on your driver’s license veteran as proof of being a veteran and after your issued this Marine Corps tag you will never have to bring in your dd214 again. However this visit I was Interrogated, asked twice if I was honorably discharged. She wanted to know if I was living at the address or if that was just a mailing address multiple times, she told me I was in the wrong County because my mailing address of Gadsden which is just ridiculous. The city on your mailing address doesn’t always reflect where you live it’s just a postal code. Why wouldn’t she know the basics of her job. This is a tax authority. I’m going to pay taxes should it be this hard and time consuming. I was interrogated like a criminal and asked if I was honorably discharged after six years of service which is slapping the face. I was denied license plate of a veteran out of ignorance. I no longer had time to play the game because I had another appointment. I had already been there almost an hour and just gave up. I took a regular license plate. What’s the point of having veterans license plate if you’re going to make a veteran feel like a criminal and jump through hoops to make a taxing authority happy. This is criminal. The woman assisting me had no idea what it meant to be a public servant she thought she was in a whodunit game and was going to prove that I somehow didn’t deserve to pay taxes to the county or be issued a veterans license plate. This is what you get when your government doesn’t understand they work for you and they think they are a policing authority. The attendant went to see her supervisor multiple times like four and didn’t seem to have any intentions in resolving the problems but finding more problems That just didn’t exist. This will be on my lips during voting season.

They where extremely helpful with trailer tags and my late father's property taxes. I know the laws are messed up but the ladies are extremely helpful. And the blonde supervisor that came out on the property issue was smoking hot lol

When speaking to an employee in person at the tax assessor office, why do the other employees feel the need to listen to the conversation? The employee at the other section of the same office understood my issue of why I was there and did the work . Thanks
