My wife and I have been working on our backyard redo. We wanted to make it an engaging and welcoming space, but it wasn't easy to find unique and exciting pieces to add to it. After visiting several places, we finally discovered El Mercado Market, and it was an incredible find.

Our first impression of the market was very positive. It was super clean and well-organized, and there was an astronomical amount of available items that we found pleasantly impressive. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Mr. Peter Guerra, his wife, and son, who were all delightful and welcoming.

The market is full of unique and convenient pieces that will bring a focal point to your yard and be the subject of conversation. Overall, our experience at El Mercado Market was beautiful, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for unique and exciting items for their backyard.

They have a variety of adorable clay pots. You should inspect them thoroughly to ensure they are not chipped or broken. The clay pot is priced at $24, while the mug is $5. They are ideal for displaying lovely flower bouquets.
The staff here are a bit too attentive, they follow you around like you're a shoplifter. It's kind of weird and makes you feel rushed. But the lady who helped me was really nice and helpful.

My family and I threw a last-minute party for my husband’s birthday and we decided that we needed a burner to make Asado. i’m assuming that our propane tanks were not strong enough to ignite the burner that we had purchased because it wouldn’t turn on once it was home I’m assuming he’s the owner of the store was polite enough to come to try to turn it on because when I took it back, it turned on, but when I brought it home, it wouldn’t come on, so he brought another one exactly the same, and did the same thing at the end he ended up bringing me a different one and we were able to you know cook our food and enjoy our night. I’m really glad that we decided to purchase our burner at this place. They literally give top quality service.

Visited a week ago, found the perfect pot for my turtle vine. Yes, workers might follow you and watch you. This is a family owned market that imports goods legitimately from México. Beautiful pieces made from the hands of hard working Mexicans, who must be payed fairly for their art work. Then, shipping and handling is not cheap, specially with delicate craftsmanship. Finally, this family must get their profit from their imports. They have a huge selection of artistry so they might follow you to ask what you’re looking for and guide you to what you want. That’s how I found the perfect pot for my turtle vine. Be empathetic! Always check that the artistry you are purchasing is “Made in Mexico” or “Hecho en Mexico”. Why? Just if you care to support authentic craftsmanship. No need to get defensive. It’s not Walmart, chat with the workers and you’ll leave with a friend. I shall be back for some items for my ofrenda for the fall.

I’m leaving one star because I will give great credit to the variety of beautiful items available. But red flag number one; There were two gentlemen that were working and they followed me around like the secret service. I was very interested in a particular item but felt like it was very overpriced compared to other vendor pricing. I asked him if I could get a better deal if I paid cash which would also benefit the business and avoid credit card processing fees. He offered me $20 off of a $400 item. I chuckled and left. I’ve been to Mexico a gazillion times and I am very familiar with the cost of yard art reproductions, nearly 200% above cost is absurd. You should move your shop to River Oaks not the eastex fwy. Not a pleasant shopping experience.

Items are great but really over priced. I bought an item in Monterrey for 80 dollars and this place had the same item half the size for 280. Also they follow you around like your gonna steal stuff makes people not want to go back.
