TL;DR: Gulpha Springs Campground offers nice bathrooms but closely packed sites, which can be noisy for tent campers. Avoid Spot 34 due to the communal trash bin.

Gulpha Springs Campground in Hot Springs National Park is an okay option for camping. While there are plenty of spots, they are very close together, which might be an issue if you’re a light sleeper in a tent, as camper noise can be a disturbance.

The bathrooms are very nice and clean, but access is locked (you’ll get the code in your welcome email). However, there are only two bathrooms in the main bathhouse, so that’s something to keep in mind. If you’re picking a site, I’d recommend avoiding Spot 34—it’s located right next to the communal trash bin, which isn’t ideal. Overall, it’s a decent campground but has a few drawbacks, especially for tent campers.

Gulpha Gorge Campground is a perfect basecamp for exploring Hot Springs National Park! This smaller campground packs in everything you need for a comfortable stay. Our site was ideally situated right next to a bubbling creek, providing a peaceful soundtrack to our camping experience.

The paved parking pad was wonderfully level - a detail that RVers will definitely appreciate. The bathrooms were a standout feature: private, spotlessly clean, and equipped with excellent heaters that made a big difference in comfort.

What really sets this campground apart is its location. The direct access to hiking trails is incredible - we completed a beautiful 7-mile hike over Hot Springs and North Mountains right from our campsite. No need to drive anywhere to start your adventure!

While the campground may be compact in size, it delivers big on amenities and location. If you're planning to explore Hot Springs National Park, you couldn't ask for a better place to stay. The combination of comfortable facilities, peaceful creek-side setting, and immediate trail access makes this 5-star campground a real find!

Visited the campground for 3 nights. Felt very secure. The campground is well taken care of. There are some well maintained trails nearby. There was water and electrical hookups. There were two sides to the bathhouse and it had good water pressure and was secure for those staying in the campground. The sites were small. We wouldn't have been able to camp in a tent on grass if we had taken a tent with us. We were thankfully in a camper but still had a small space.

Beautiful campground in Hot Springs. Hard to get a site so reserve in advance. Park rangers and volunteers drive around and there is a visitor center, but no rangers seem to be present. The gorge is beautiful and peaceful. We love walking in it.

This is our second time camping here and thought we would give it another try because the kids loved the creek. However, nothing has changed and no matter what site you have it is cramped no room and hard to park your camper. Our awning will not extend out all the way due to bushes and trees that keep the sites cramped. Also our slide was one inch from a tree when extended I could have backed up more, but had to have the camper further up the site because the electric and water are at the front of the site not toward the back where most power cords are located on campers. Then to top this off the volunteer had to come and bang on our door one day as we were resting about our car being on the grass. I have added the picture of this atrocity that I was guilty of. I was not fully on the payment but when a camry can't back out because the guy across the road has a 2500 dodge that parks sideways and is only out of the road because he pulled his mirror in it's a little ridiculous. I would also like to point out that while I do like meeting people from all over, I am curious as to why the volunteer enforcing these rules is from Texas and drives a Texas vehicle this same volunteer also did not help me park where other campers did due to the small cramped areas and people parking so close to the roads. Also this same volunteer never asked this other truck who I took a picture of from a distance to be respectful that is on the grass as well. Needless to say we will not be back and will find other areas to camp. I have been to many national parks that understand their parking is an issue and don't mind so long as your not parking completely clearly on the grass.
