TL;DR: This place does not care that they lost your record during a global pandemic, nor the fact that you are enlisting in the Armed Forces.

Absolutely disgusted with the way my friend was treated while she helped me with a huge favor. I live in North Carolina now, but was married in Scottsdale in June of 2020 (right before Covid shut down everything). I am enlisting in the Air Force and needed a certified copy of my marriage license for processing. According to this office, my marriage license was never received by them so they weren't able to give my friend a certified copy. My friend had already visited two days prior trying to obtain a certified copy and was informed that they lost several documents during Covid, licenses included. During her second visit, after having received my original marriage license (minus the bottom stub THAT I SENT INTO THE OFFICE), she was told that they would not be able to give her a certified copy of the license, despite it being public record. They would instead have to send the certified license by mail to the address on the license. Since the marriage was over four years ago, we no longer live at that address (pretty obvious since we moved to NC). My friend had asked to update the address since we no longer lived there and was told that only myself or my wife would be able to update it, despite having already been informed that we are in North Carolina and my friend is only there because we are not able to take care of this ourselves. After requesting to speak with a manager, she was informed of all the same information but continued to stress that my wife and I are not on the same side of the country. The office eventually settled on letting my friend update our mailing address, but not before having to endure the disrespectful behavior of the office workers. The only employee that she hade a genuinely positive experience with was the individual she had spoken with on her first visit who was retired Air Force and understood the situation. Everyone else was nothing but rude and demeaning towards her.

Easy and fast! Not sure why some reviews are saying they only take money orders, totally not true. It almost gave me a heart attack when I kept reading they didn’t take anything but money orders but I think those people wrote reviews for the wrong marriage license office. We paid with debit card no problem at the window. We had an appointment and were in and out in 10 minutes with plenty of walk ins still waiting around.

Piece of cake. If I may make some suggestions it may make things easier for some.
Make an appointment, you can make it the day before even. We got our license on 01/09/24, the same day we got married (also my husband's birthday so he won't forget lol) but I made an appointment the day before for 9AM. It was slow at that time but if it's busy you could end up waiting for some time if you don't have an appointment.
There's metered parking right out front and if available you should park there instead of having to use a parking garage. Bring your spare change just in case. The meters take all coin denominations except pennies.
You'll have to go through security so leave anything metal you don't have to have at home.
Once past security the marriage license forms are in front of the windows. It's a simple one page form. Once the form is completely filled out go to the computer, also by the front windows and check in either by scanning the code sent to your email when you made the appoiintment or by logging in. Since it was slow our number was being called while it was still printing out.
Have both parties ID's and the money order or check ready (they don't take cash) cause they will collect that first. After that you verify all the information on the form, swear that it's the truth and BAM! You have a marriage good for one year from the date of issue. I'm 2024 we paid $83 for the license and $37.50 to have a copy returned to me which I have to do for a name change, totalling $120.50 but CHECK PRICES ON THE SITE TO BE CERTAIN! Happy honeymooning!

The process for marriage license was fast efficient and painless. Make an appointment online, sign in at the kiosk and wait for your number to be called. The paperwork at the desk took 5 minutes and the clerk person was polite and knowledgeable. Upon walking in the security team was polite and welcoming. Metered parking is available directly outside, and there are a number of lots and garages available for parking all within a short walk.

We scheduled an appointment online and the check in was completely contactless amid Covid-19 shenanigans. We visited during the pandemic and there is a sign out front that only 2 can come in/be at the security desk at a time. We went to the machine to check in with the QR code from the confirmation email they sent and they immediately called our number. All of the clerks had on gloves as well as a mask and the process was easy. They have you confirm the spelling on everything, and you are good to go. We got our license, got married elsewhere, and brought our completed license back the same day. The filed receipt arrived less than a week later. We are both eternally grateful to Maricopa County for staying open and taking precautions during the pandemic as we drove from Las Vegas, NV. Although it is a very stressful time nationwide, this office made it completely painless. They have fabulous staff and they worked very hard to get people in and out. We are eternally happy for the chance to get our marriage license from out of state. We had a wedding planned and it was canceled due to the closures and Maricopa County literally saved my wedding day. Thank you ?.

Lady helping us out at the window was nice! Than 15mins after being in the building some lady comes out and says you need a mask! I’m like? This is public building. She stated it’s up to private business! So when did county turn in to a private business?
