Had a bad experience today, I booked for the obvious tcu software update but mertech tried to charge for a diagnosis then proceeded to do a clutch relearn, I didn't need this and if they know smarts they knew also.
I'm £96 down and still a flashing gear selector.

I would seriously avoid using this garage, they will just take your money.

Third time iv used them, first time told me I had an airbag light on in a c220 and it was the seat, no shit Sherlock, I already knew that using a diagnostic, but what about the seat, wasted money on there diagnostic

2nd time I had a clutch relearn as on that particular car I needed it, reluctantly they did this with a pattern part but only as they couldn't supply one, at my own risk but I understood that occasion.

Below is a copy from a smart specialist and one of very many that I have come across explaining what the issue with my car actually likely is, and that's what I was prepared to pay for.

Please do yourself a favor avoid these people and take your car elsewhere, the staff are rude when I approached them about my concerns, they were clueless about what they had done, couldn't give me any reason other than making out I asked for a relearn, simply because I wasn't prepared to pay for there diagnosis

Dam rude, I value my hard earned cash!!

Transmission Control Unit Software Updates

A TCU Software update can resolve many issues including the failure to engage reverse and the flashing N Although there are other reasons for both flashing N and reverse failure its is always a good idea to try an update first as replacing a clutch etc can become a costly exercise.

Fashing N

There are several reasons your Smart displays a flashing N If the flashing N is displayed in conjunction with 2 x maintenance spanners and the car appears to drive as usual a software update can often fix this.

Fantastic professional honest service.
I had an engine issue on my A class and they got me in quick, I was expecting just to get it diagnosed and then book it in for the work done, i was expecting it to be very expensive due to the issues, but they managed to dig into the issues an carry out a re learn to he problem parts which solved the issue.
This shows how honest and good Mer-Tech are, some other garages would have quiet happily changed the issue parts instead of a bit more investigation to solve.

Avoid this garage!! They would have blagged me if it wasn’t for my car getting recalled and lister’s Mercedes telling me the truth ?

So first of all I had all 4 glow plugs & the module & wiring done as Merc tech said that was the problem!! £588!! Then 4 weeks later I had an oil leak and needed my turbo replacing!! Cheapest they found supplied and fitted was £1580!! The day after I collected my car I took it back in and told them there was a bad smell of oil or diesel coming from my heaters!! To be told it was the new turbo bedding in!! Still 4 weeks after the smell was there to the point you got a headache from it driving for 10-15 mins!!

Mercedes recalled my car for an engine update!! Thank god they did!! …. To be told by a professional Mercedes mechanic that my turbo clamp wasn’t put on properly ? he said they can be tricky to clamp back on but that’s merc techs job!! Then I told him i took it back cause the smell from my heaters was so bad and he popped my bonnet to show me why ? they’d left all the black soot from the change of the turbo and not cleaned it properly that’s why it smelt so bad!! Where the dpf or dbs is so just short of £1600 the left my car with the mess under the bonnet and my turbo not clamped down properly ? then I told him about the glow plugs module and wiring and he said that in all his years in Mercedes he’d never heard of all 4 go and the module and wiring!! so I took it straight back In Merc tech in person!!
Instead of I’m sorry!! I got off the manager or owner bald headed short guy! That when I brought my car back the first time after the turbo he checked it but he can’t smell properly!! So why would he test a car to see what the problem was with the smell from the heaters that you needed a sense of smell for!!! ? And took no responsibility for the turbo not been clamped down properly!! They fixed the problem but when I was collecting my car the mechanic that brought my keys into the receptionist I asked him if he’d clamped my turbo back down properly this time to be ignored and got his phone out and was onit totally ignoring me!! When I said something to the receptionist she made excuses for him “oh they’re not allowed to talk to customers!” Ohh so it’s ok that he’s rude then love!!

I would not trust this garage with a corsa let alone my Mercedes again!!

This place needs shutting down absolutely rip offs and have no clue or care for any vehicles that go there clearly!!

And Merc tech don’t come at me with anything like you have your other bad reports on here!!
The only thing bad I’ve ever said when I came back the final time was that I was not happy after spending £1580 and coming back once already and been fobbed off and then I find out my turbos not clamped on properly!!!! Who wouldn’t be mad!!!!
Any thing you’d done to my car has been paid in full on the same day you’ve told me my cars ready!!

My car goes in Mercedes listers next week and if I find out that I’ve not had new glow plugs, module & wiring and listers are willing to confirm that to a court room! I will be taking you to court!

Update mertech rang me agreeing seeing this report and offered me a free A service if I took this report down ? like I would ever let them touch my car again !!!! Obviously the answer was a big fat NO
